(Sutamai) Daily Mini Talk, 17 November 2017

17 November 2017

Characters: Yamazaki Kaname & Kirishima Koya.

Title: Ever heard of ‘Shogi’?

-Kujo Household: Living Room-

Kaname: Hmmm……

Kirishima: Hm? Whatchu doing there?

Kaname: Playing shogi.

Kirishima: Huh? Ain’t shogi played with two people?

Kaname: This is problem solving shogi.
It’s a form of play where you decide how many moves it should take you to corner the king and then based on that, you have to figure out the correct move to make.

Kirishima: Problem solving……? How many moves……?

Kaname: In short, it’s a puzzle.

Kirishima: Oh, so it’s a puzzle! Why didn’t you just say so from the start, damn!
But I didn’t know that you could use shogi to solve puzzles.
…………

Kaname: (I get the feeling that he’s thinking up something unnecessary……)

Kirishima: Alright! I’ve also got one! A new way to play shogi!

Kaname: Problem solving shogi isn’t exactly new or anything.

Kirishima: Well, just wait and see! I’ll do this, and then this……

Kaname: …… Is that dominoes?

Kirishima: Woah, awesome! You guessed it right away!

Kaname: Well, yeah. But it won’t fall over nicely if you arrange it like that.

Kirishima: Huh? I’m lining them up though, aren’t I?

Kaname: The shogi pieces have a tapered point so you have to place them a little bit closer to each other.

Kirishima: No kidding!?

Kaname: Also, if you don’t calculate for the angle of curve, then it won’t be able to properly turn in that direction.

Kirishima: I getcha. What should I do here then?

Kaname: Um, for here……

They say that the shogi pieces that were lined up like dominoes extended all the way out to the Kujo gardens…...
