(Sutamai) Event: ‘At The Final Stop of The Galaxy Express’

Event Period: 1 Nov 2019 ~ 11 Nov 2019

Summary: What he saw in his dream was a galaxy a zillion light years away. The people he met at the train stop were all but people that he knew. What did he see, hear, feel… and gain from that? This is something that happened in the space between reality and dreams…

Stages (main story):
Part 1 {Stages 01-29}
Part 2 {Stages 30-55}
Part 3 {Stages 56-60}

T/N:

General A - Several lines with a pun have been modified slightly when translating over to better flow with the story. The context or intention has been kept as close to the original Japanese dialogue as possible

General B - Lines from the official English rendition have not been directly quoted in this translation

1 - For the purpose of consistency, I’m casually keeping to the term “Galaxy Express” but yes, Miyazawa Kenji’s novel has officially been translated into varying titles

2 - Swap out “hoax” for “heron” (same pronunciation in Japanese of “sagi”) and Hattori’s line reads as if a bird is carrying more people onto the train. This is a play on the stork delivering babies myth

3 - “Anecdote” is pronounced as “soma” in Japanese, which is the same as Kujo’s first name

4 - Kirishima mistakes hearing “infatuation” (tousui) with “rice gruel” (zousui)...
