Keito: Hmm. I was startled because you were spouting odd things, but I see…… So you’re playing with Hanafuda*

That must be why you said something about being the Oya*—are you playing “Koi-Koi”*?

Having fun fooling around with your classmates gives off the impression of being a high school student, doesn’t it? Though it does feel quite refined in taste choosing to play with Hanafuda

Souma: Hahaha. This is embarrassing. For me especially, it is a more familiar game than “toranpu” and so on

But it appears that many of the people my age do not know how to play, so it is a bit lonely

Adonis-dono has shown interest so I have taught him various things, but he still has not managed to remember the “ruuru”

Adonis: …………

Keito: Hmmm, Otogari, is it? Come to think of it, you’re that close friend of Kanzaki that’s in the same class as him

Adonis: Aah, Hasumi-sempai…… Please help me. I also want to play with Hanafuda along with Kanzaki and Anzu, but the terminology is too difficult

Keito: That’s certainly true. I, too, am only very well-acquainted with the most basic “Koi-Koi”. And even then, I haven’t played in a long time so my memory is vague, let alone being of any help

Adonis: Aah…… No matter how many times it’s explained to me, it doesn’t fit in with the words that I know, so I’m looking it up one-by-one in the dictionary and writing it down in my notebook

Err. So this and this makes “curtains on cherry blossom”, so Cherry Blossom have a Curtain Call……?

Keito: You’re becoming like Suou there, Otogari

Adonis: Hngh. Card games in itself are what Oogami likes to play, so I often play together with him…… If I can just remember the rules, I can join in and play as well

Souma: Fufu. Adonis-dono is still hopeless when it comes to languages, but you are smart

Do not focus so much on the meaning of the words—I believe it is better to remember by seeing it with your own eyes and getting a feel for it

Hanafuda are all picture cards after all, so it is better to remember the picture than closely examining the meaning of the words

Basically, the more extravagant the picture, the stronger the card…… Or rather, that card is worth more points

See here, this is a picture of the moon appearing from above the mountains, yes?

Combining this with this o-sake* card shall, in other words, give you “drinking while viewing the moon”*

Having a cup of sake while taking in the scene of the moon—it is the feeling of drinking together, and being tipsy and in a good mood

Adonis: This is o-sake? It’s red*…… isn’t it? So it’s not a UFO?

Souma: Hmm. Now that you mention it, it certainly does look like an unidentified flying object, but this is sake

Adonis: Then, the thing behind this strangely misanthropic-looking bird is also…… o-sake?

Souma: Fufu. You know the meaning of “misanthropic”, therefore you shall also be able to memorise the phrases used in Hanafuda before long

Incidentally, this is the moon—it is a crescent moon

Adonis: This is also a moon?...... Then, if I combine this card with the o-sake card, will it also become “drinking while viewing the moon”?

Souma: No. Unfortunately, if you do not combine it with this full moon card, then it cannot be completed

Adonis: So difficult…… Hanafuda is difficult……

Souma: Do not say that, I want you to try hard and learn it

There are such requirements for games like “hachi-hachi”* that need three people to play, so if Adonis-dono can grasp understanding Hanafuda, then I shall be greatly looking forward to it

Keito: Hahaha. Seems like you have it rough there, Kanzaki

Souma: No, not all all. Conversations with Adonis-dono are very rewarding for me

To endeavour to explain difficult things in an easy-to-understand way is also befitting of “Akatsuki’s” ideology

With traditional performance arts…… Like Noh* and Kabuki* and so forth, there are a lot of interesting things that cannot be enjoyed without understanding the meaning of the words used in it

But those “interesting things” are what we, “Akatsuki”, are offering by carrying it over and modernising it

I also resonate with that aspect of “Akatsuki’s” ideology

Even when I occasionally appeared on stage as part of family business—whether it was because it was unclear to the little kids or not, I would be disappointed by the “blank” looks that they gave me

Keito: Hmm, that’s true. Even at our temple, we make sure to reword the meanings of the sutras into a modern language for easier understanding and explaining

Souma: Fufu. It is because the Hasumi-dono who was born and raised in that sort of household is our leading figure, that “Akatsuki’s” ideology is the way that it is

Anzu-dono, at this rate, it seems that we shall run out of time for the cooking

For the moment, I am in the lead with more wins this round—so today’s cooking duty shall be left up to me, is that okay?

Keito: ? What’s this all about?

Souma: Hmm. Anzu-dono and I often choose the “koosu” in the dining hall where we make the food ourselves, and then we eat together

Especially at times like when “Torikkusutaa” are absent because of a job

Keito: Aah, speaking of which, the rowdy lot aren’t here. Even they are genuinely becoming busy with facing “SS”

Souma: Yes. It is not Anzu-dono’s project this time around—it is something about materials for a magazine, so she is sitting it out

If possible, it seems that she wishes to accompany alongside “Torikkusutaa” with all their activities, but—

Keito: No, if you accompany them, then you won’t be able to properly attend your classes

“Trickstar” are working so it’s regarded as equivalent to attending, but in terms of school regulations, Anzu would be completely skipping class

A low attendance rate and repeating the year like a certain vampire—I’d rather you not fall into that same situation

…… Seeing as the “Producer Course” will be officially starting next year onward, there’ll be a need to slightly adjust the terms of that rule
