Location: 2-A Classroom

Keito: In any case—if I recall, the ‘make-it-yourself’ course in the dining hall did, true to its name, give off the feeling of cooking your own food

The ingredients and such have been prepared, so is it easier to make than usual or something?

Souma: Yes. It is also training for cooking, so it is killing two birds with one stone

Usually, either Anzu-dono or I make our own separate dish, or we make one together

But lately, Anzu-dono has been particularly busy with looking after “Torikkusutaa”

Her menu has been noticeably lacking in substance, or rather, she is being negligent and I could not bear standing by and watching……

So if it was okay with Anzu-dono, I offered to cook her share of food every day as well

But she declined the offer rather firmly……

Anzu-dono ended up insisting instead that she would make my share every day too, seeing as the task of looking after the “Aidoru” was her own

It became a heated dispute, and when it ended at long last…… We came to the agreement that we would challenge each other, and the winner would do the cooking

Keito: I see…… It’s really like the both of you to decide that it’s the “winner” and not the “loser” who has to do it

Although, I do feel like there were other alternatives such as normally ordering your meal without having to make it yourself

Well, if you’re both satisfied with that outcome, then I have no right to say anything as someone who’s not involved. Anyhow…… Is that the reason why you were playing Hanafuda?

Souma: Yes. I have been fond of Hanafuda since childhood, so I have the upper hand in experience

But tomorrow, it shall be more fair to battle each other in a field that Anzu-dono is good at

…… Hmm? It is frustrating to have lost, so you wish to challenge me in Hanafuda until you win?

Anzu-dono, you surprisingly hate to lose. Or rather, you are sometimes manly ♪

Keito: I don’t think it’s right to be describing a girl as “manly”......

Well, in reality, if you compare it to the time you entered the Academy, even you’ve become considerably sturdy

Souma: Hm? Anzu-dono is happy, saying that “Shishou* has praised me!”...... Anzu-dono, you have for some reason since yesterday, started calling Hasumi-dono ‘Shishou’ at times?

Keito: Don’t comment too deeply into that, Kanzaki

Souma: Un-understood…… I do not really understand, but your eyes are frightening, Hasumi-dono

Keito: More importantly. Sorry to have kept you both here with that long talk. It’s a bad habit of mine……

You’re heading towards the dining hall to cook now, right? You should get moving before the lunch break ends

Souma: Hmm, that is true

Well then, Hasumi-dono, we shall be excusing ourselves for the time being. Let us cross paths again after class at the “Akatsuki” meeting ♪

Keito: Yes, see you again after class

Adonis: …………

Keito: …… Hm? You’re not going with them, Otogari?

Adonis: I’ve already had my fill of food

I ran into Tenma just now, and received bread from him that he overbought…… I make it a rule to eat fast when I can

Keito: Are you a wild animal?

…… Compared to the first time we met, you’ve become quite more human, or more precisely, your demeanor has become softer

Hmm, yes, you’ve become more like an Idol, haven’t you?

Adonis: Thanks. You’re giving me praise, aren’t you, Hasumi-sempai?

But that aside. I’ve been reading the manual for Hanafuda since before, and there’s something not right here

It doesn’t seem like Kanzaki and the others have noticed, but I can’t help feeling that there’s one card missing

Watching Kanzaki and the others play, I was somehow able to count them up

The number of Hanafuda cards listed in the manual, and the number of Hanafuda cards that Kanzaki and the others were playing with don’t seem to match up

Keito: Hmm, is that so?

Kanzaki and the others thoroughly tidied up the Hanafuda cards before they left, so I can’t confirm it…… But you’re saying that there’s only one card missing, correct?

Hmmm~? Why do I feel like I remember hearing that Hanafuda story somewhere before……?

Location: Garden Terrace

Souma: Come, come, it is good to eat in abundance ♪

I have put my skills to full use today as well

Hmmm, it may be a lot for just the both of us to eat though……

The truth is, I was hoping to also treat Adonis-dono with some food, so I prepared an excess of ingredients

And because it seemed like the fresh fish and such would be in pain if I carried them home with me, I ended up cooking everything

I occasionally make obentou* for Adonis-dono, but especially lately, I have been making my own food in the dining hall more often

The freshly made food, I shall eat because Adonis-dono is odd about things like that—even with obentou

I was thinking that it would be efficient if I were to also make Adonis-dono’s share of food all at once

But today, Adonis-dono received “bread” from his junior, you see……

So it seems like he has become full, and that there was no need for me to put my skills to full use

Adonis-dono is a hearty eater, so he would make short work of one extra meal for the day.  But it is not really my intention to force him to eat, after all

Hm? What is it, Anzu-dono? “You guys are really close, huh”?

Yes. Adonis-dono is my irreplaceable friend. Plus, he eats the food that I make for him so deliciously that it makes it worth cooking

I shall properly contact him beforehand starting from tomorrow onward, so let us all eat together with Adonis-dono as well

Adonis-dono is also very skilled at cooking, so it is a good idea to have him cook for us too

Seeing as we ended up using Hanafuda to decide who would have the cooking duties……

Till then, it is necessary to have Adonis-dono memorise the “ruuru” for Hanafuda

Fufu. Having fun with your friends in the same “kurasu”, cooking, and gathering around the dining table……

I would be confused if you said that that is very typically high school student-like, but for me, it is a very pleasant feeling

Aah, this is what beloved youth is
