Characters: Kujo Soma & Hiyama Takaomi.
Title: Healing via the plants
Kujo: Hm? How unusual of us to meet at a place like this.
Hiyama: You took the words right out of my mouth. What brings you here by yourself?
Kujo: I had some time open in my schedule so I was doing some reading while enjoying my break.
Hiyama: A book on gardening……
That piece of information wasn’t on file, but were you also greening your thumbs, Kujo?
Kujo: Hardly. I do have an interest in it, but I have never tried it out for myself before.
I was reading this book because Go went and bought it for me instead of the one that I had asked him to.
Hiyama: I see…… Gardening for yourself isn’t so bad, you know.
Kujo: From what I can see, I find it very agreeable. But I’m sure that when it comes to nurturing them, it varies from plant to plant.
Hiyama: It’s not that difficult to understand flowers.
There are certainly ones that you can even set aside for several days too.
That’s right. How about a cactus plant then?
Kujo: Indeed. They do say that it’s easy to look after. I wonder if I’ll be able to take care of one as well.
Hiyama: Yes, of course. Contrary to belief, there are many various ways to enjoy raising a cactus plant.
For example, take this photo. It’s of one that I’m growing at home, but……
Kujo: You’ve placed it in a bucket?
Hiyama: That’s right. It’s called “group planting”. You create a flowerpot in your own special way by combining a variety of different types.
And it’s not just possible with cacti. You can do this with a whole lot of houseplants.
Kujo: Haha, that certainly does sound intriguing.
Hiyama: Doesn’t it?
I’ve also been trying out new ways of “group planting” lately.
Here, this one.
Kujo: This is……
(Pine trees, boulders, and moss……)
Hiyama: It’s not a bad idea to try out traditional Japanese gardening as well, don’t you think?
Kujo: …… Can’t argue with that.
His remark on whether or not that was what they called “bonsai” was gently kept in check…...
