Characters: Revel
"What sort of ochazuke do rich people love?"
This will be Revel’s second time making an appearance, but we’d like to ask you all to introduce yourselves for the sake of our first-time readers.
Otani: Hi there, I’m Otani Hatori. A 27-year-old born on February 14th. I work in IT, and I guess for the time being, I’m a representative executive. Alright, next up is Maki. Take it away.
Maki: I’m Maki Keita, 26-years-old. My birthday is on March 3rd, and I’m the director for the development branch in the toy making company called M-Toys.
Kagura: Hey, why do we have to go so far as to mention our age and birthdays?
Otani: Well then, Kagura. Will you give us a more interesting self-intro instead?
Kagura: I’m Kagura Aki, 26-years-old. Born July 20th. My job is a designer.
Otani: Well, that’s no different from ours.
Kagura: If I follow along with your fancies, then we’ll never get through this.
Maki: Then to finish off is Hiyama-kun.
Hiyama: Right, I’m Hiyama Takaomi. 29-years-old. My birthday is on December 21st, and my height, if I recall from this year’s health examination, was 179cm. The vision in my right eye is—
Kagura: Hold on, what……
Otani: Ahaha. Your self-intro is rather elaborate, Hiyama.
Hiyama: A self-introduction is something you do to get the other person to know you, is that not so? Was there something strange in what I said?
Maki: Nah, it was actually typical of you to do. I thought it was a nice touch.
Otani: You should also learn a thing or two, Kagura. Wanna give it another go?
Kagura: Absolutely not.
Maki: And? What’s your job, Hiyama-kun?
Hiyama: Oh, of course. I run Hiyama Real Estates.
Hatori: In other words, he’s a property magnate.
Now, we’d like to ask you about things that run hand in hand with this interview’s theme, “Crazy About You”. Please tell us what all you upper class folk are preoccupied by lately.
Otani: I think I can speak for everyone here when I say that there’s something of a hobby to be found in our jobs. So I guess we’re wrapped up in our work.
Kagura: Isn’t your hobby fooling around with girls?
Otani: Is that how you see it?
Kagura: How else do you expect me to look at it?
Maki: Hey, c’mon. Even so, he’s calmed down a fair bit compared to before, right?
Otani: Uh-huh, I believe it’s just as Maki says.
Hiyama: He has a point. But in that case, doesn’t that make what you’re into, the exact opposite?
Otani: Ahaha, true. For you Hiyama, you’re still as riveted in looking after plants as always.
Kagura: Kei-chan, as well. You never fail to check the newest dairy products.
Maki: And you Aki, are constantly on the lookout for all the latest news in design.
Otani: What’s this now? So does that mean we’re all still obsessed about the same things as before?
Kagura: Well then, can’t we leave it at Hatori’s womanising ways not having changed either?
Hatori: You’re right, I do love girls, after all. I suppose I’ll call it what it is, and say no more.
Moving on, what’s the dish that every one of you can’t live without?
Maki: Does that mean our favourite food?
Hiyama: I see. Then it would be ochazuke for me.
Kagura: Just adding on for the sake of it, but Hiyama-kun’s ochazuke isn’t any old regular ochazuke.
Hiyama: …… ? But it’s simply your standard one?
Maki: I don’t think the rest of the world considers something with caviar in it to be “standard”.
Otani: A foie gras saute is passable in my books.
Maki: And I don’t think “passable” is what others would say there either……
Kagura: You were hooked on the creamed abalone a while back because it was delicious, right, Kei-chan?
Maki: Wow, you remember it so well. But lately, I’ve been really into ice cream.
Otani: Really? Which brand?
Maki: Oh, it’s the ones usually sold at convenience stores for about 100 yen.
Kagura: ………… Hey, don’t tell me that means what I think it does.
Hiyama: I see. So you ate it together with her then?
Maki: Well, yeah, pretty much. But it really was delicious.
Otani: If you’re going to say that, then I’ve also taken a liking to the ramen that she told me about.
Hiyama: Is that so? Then in that sense, the convenience store bought oden that the missus gave to me the other day had quite the interesting flavouring.
Otani: What about you, Kagura?
Kagura: Excuse me?
Otani: Is there anything that’s got your fancy from what she’s said to you? Like stir fried noodles? Or grilled chicken? Oh, or maybe takoyaki?
Kagura: Hey, could you not bring up that word around me!?
Maki: Sorry, is it alright if this is how our answers are?
Thank you for your responses (LOL). Well then, continuing on with the interview, do you have anything adorable and lovely that you can’t help unconsciously wanting to kiss?
Hiyama: As in a person?
All three: ………………
Hiyama: …… What’s the matter?
Kagura: No, asking us that, like……
Maki: We were wondering how to react if you were actually able to answer with someone.
Otani: But doesn’t that sound interesting? On that note, if there is someone, who would it—
Kagura: Hatori, if you ask Hiyama-kun that, he’ll answer back seriously, so give it a rest.
Hiyama: I don’t mind, but am I not allowed to say anything?
Maki: …… It’s not like you’re not allowed to, but…
Hatori: If you do have someone like that to you, then you should probably tell it to them in secret instead of out in public like this.
Kagura: Like you’re one to talk. You started this.
Let’s talk about relationships now. If you all were to fall in love with someone, then how do you see yourself ending up?
Maki: How, like…… I wonder about that?
Otani: For a start, you seem like you’d turn out to be a good boyfriend, Maki. It feels like any girl who could become your girlfriend would be guaranteed a lifetime’s worth of happiness.
Maki: I don’t think that’s true at all. But, well, I figure there isn’t anyone out there who’d want to make the person they love unhappy.
Otani: So then, you hope to make that girl happy?
Maki: Huh?
Kagura: Hey, stop asking Kei-chan weird things.
Hiyama: Surprisingly, you give off the image of being someone who goes the extra mile to look out for the other person, Kagura.
Otani: Yeah, all the while complaining about every little thing.
Kagura: Got a problem with that?
Maki: But you know, if Aki falls in love, I reckon he’d single-mindedly think of her. If anyone’s happiness is guaranteed, then wouldn’t it be Aki’s girlfriend?
Otani: He’s unexpectedly shy, so the feeling of being loved may come across strongly from his emotions flooding out.
Hiyama: You’re right. Contrary to Kagura’s intentions day in and day out, his feelings are conveyed time and time again.
Kagura: What are you even saying? That just sounds like some embarrassing fool.
Maki: Better than not being understood, right?
Otani: On the other hand, Hiyama, it might be because of your natural airheadedness that the message doesn’t quite get through.
Hiyama: Even though my feelings are spoken with honest intentions?
Kagura: In your case, Hiyama-kun, it’s hard to know if you’re unaware of yourself, or if you’re being serious or joking.
Maki: In a way, he’s the one to most likely take you for a ride.
Hiyama: …… ? If she were to accept the Hiyama family name, then no matter what hardships there may be in that process, I have the confidence to protect her until the very end…… But does that not come across clearly?
All three: ………………
Kagura: God, Hiyama-kun, you really are……
Hiyama: ?
Maki: There’s no question about it. The person who will become your girlfriend, Hiyama-kun, is also a lucky girl.
Kagura: The only problem left is Hatori.
Otani: Huh? You meanie~ What’s there to complain about me?
Kagura: Everything and every part about you, I’d say.
Hiyama: The woman that Hatori would become serious about……
Maki: Sounds like it’d be a different story just from who falls in love with whom first, Hatori or the other person.
Kagura: If it’s the other person first, then that’s way too sad. They’d be beside themselves in tears for most days of the year.
Otani: It’s not in my interest to make girls cry though?
Hiyama: I also feel like I would want to see you regretting making them cry, Hatori.
Otani: Ahaha, I’m the one who wants to see that the most.
Thank you for the fun talk!
Maki: Thank you for also having us. Wait, was what we said even alright?
Otani: Why not? It’s not like we lied or anything.
Kagura: I think you should have at least told a few lies to save face.
Otani: You worried about me? Why, thank you, Kagura.
Kagura: As if!
Hiyama: The theme this time was “Crazy About You”. It would be nice if we could make you crazy about us, but……
Kagura: Hold up, Hiyama-kun, you don’t need to look so grave nor be so concerned over it.
Otani: He’s right. I think that fun part about you Hiyama, along with Kagura’s honest side, and Maki’s thoughtful consideration for others was conveyed plenty.
Maki: And your clever tact for stirring up the place as well, right, Hatori?
Hiyama: Yes, if those things got through then that’s all that matters. We were able to spend a meaningful time today. Allow me to express my gratitude from the bottom of my heart.
